Get involved
If you are a Westminster resident or business and want to get involved then consider contacting the Chair of your local Ward Panel. Our Ward Panel page explains how you can do that.
If you want to learn more about the work of the Safer Neighbourhood Board you can contact the chair at chair@wsnb.org.
How do we do it
The board’s work is carried out by unpaid volunteers from the community who chair and manage meetings and the sharing of information. All members work to a terms of reference, sign a code of conduct and work to process overseen by the Mayors Office for Policing and Crime. Administration expenses are met by MOPAC.
Once a year we have a public meeting.
There is a quarterly meeting with the Metropolitan Police’s Superintendent for the borough of Westminster, the Director of Public Protection from Westminster City Council and the Deputy Leader of the Council.
Representatives from the the following organisations make up the Board:-
Westminster Amenity Societies Forum (a group of all the amenity society heads in Westminster)
22 Westminster Ward Panels (2 Chairs) on a rotating basis
Independent Advisory Group
Business Improvement Districts (currently the Heart of London Business Alliance)
Victim Support
Places are available, but currently vacant, for faith and youth representatives.
The Board also approves MOPAC funding for local crime reduction projects in Westminster. You can read about the operation of Safer Neighbourhood Boards here. All London boroughs have one.
